First fish on a plastic worm
Powerbass's post on the first lizard bass got me thinking, which can be dangerous for me ;D, but what the heck. What was your first bass on a plastic worm?
Mine was about 1 1/2 pounds out of a neighborhood pond on a 6" grape Mann's Jelly Worm. |

I was prefishing with my grandpa. I was about 6yo. I cant tell you the size of the fish but I was throwing a motoroil colored flip-tail worm. On a Fenwick lunkerstik with a Zebco reel.

Re: First fish on a plastic worm
First largemouth I caught was actually on a plastic worm, and was 2-3 lbs. It came from the pond I usually talk about here, from the lilypads in early June.

Mine was on a private pond. It was a pre rigged worm, purple with white spots. It weighed about 1-1/2 lbs.

Re: First fish on a plastic worm
REB,
I don't remember the weight, but it was in the late 60's on a Mann's Jelly Worm also. I don't remember the flavor, but it was light purple colored. Probably grape or mulberry flavored. I remember that they came five to a pack. JackL |

Rebbasser, They still sell them. My first worm bass was a 8" Largemouth on a mr twister phenom worm ? A black worm with divets in it.There were actually several bass all of the same size. At first I thought it was the same little fish but about the 30th fish, I started checking color patterns on the fish ? ;D P N J

Yep, they do still sell them. They are just not as popular as they used to be back in the day.

Re: First fish on a plastic worm
First bass I ever caught was on an 8 inch producto tourney worm. I was terrible at casting, threw the worm right over the top of some bullrushes, so that the lure basically just hanged from the bullrushes on some line and barely dropped into the water. Well, about a 3 pound bass slammed it anyway, and I guess I just winched it out of there.

Re: First fish on a plastic worm
My first fish on a worm I caught on a 4" finnesse worm with a small splitshot weight. This bass was probably the most pressured bass in the world. It always stayed at one bend in the river right by where people swam everyday in the summer. Every day it saw 10 new lures and no one would ever catch it. By just throwing a small bait and slowing down the retrieve, I got him. He was about 2lbs.
