shiners didn't work
a fella asked me to take his 5 year old fishing the other day. i had caught about 15 bass in this pond a few days before on a swim'n image so i figured i would buy some shiners and let this little boy slay some bass. we caught 2. i had to tie in the image again just catch some fish. figure the odds on that one.

Maybe the bait was in a area that the bass weren't at that particilar time of day....or ....they aren't used to seeing that kinda of bait

It is too bad that the little guy didn't catch any. My theory is the bass just weren't feeding at the time, but were REACTING to the crankbait for any of a number of reasons, which supports the idea that bass hit lures for numerous reasons other than feeding.
