Default Please help me catch better smallmouths

alright i need help with catching smallmouths,usually i can pull in some nice ones with minnows,crayfish,and worms.But i want to no if any spinners and jigs could help with my performance? ???


The reason i want to noe this is for the first time im goin fishin in a river up in canada and me and my friends are holdin a kinda "tournament"Between ourselves and i waz just wonderin if there are any tips that will help fish for smallmouth i appreciate thankz

I can't give you much help other than to say that smallies will take any type of artificial lure. There is a site dedicated to river smallies, and the site, not surprisingly, is http://www.riversmallies.invisionzone.com/forums/

take as ice auger with you....doubt if you'll find much open water in canada right now.

unless it is a FAST flowing river, bassintom is right. Even the rivers here in Maine are frozen right across. Good for snowmobiling when smooth...

If you are ice fishing, go with that jigging spoon. Not just smallmouth, but other fish will hit those too.

I would help ya as well need some more info like type of lake, time of yearwhat ever you can give us. pound for pound small mouth kick a** over any other bait fish
