Default Tube Fishing

I tried a medium sized bass tube today and caught squat! When I switched over to a small crappie tube, i was catching lg. mouth bass on these tubes less than an inch long? Why was this?

I used a red and chartruse tube today and caught several, my guess is that size tube matched the size minnows that are present in the eco system

Maybe you matched the hatch as JB said, meaning you matched the size of your lure to the size of forage. If the fish were pressured or if you were fishing in a cold front the bass just wanted you to downsize.
