Default Wart Worms

I'm a new member, too. Have fished all my life (58 yrs.), but took a 10 year vacation from serious fishing to fly ultralight airplanes. Not sure which hobby is easier on the pocketbook
Previously, I fished exclusively with plastic worms. Wart Worms from Bass Pro shops gave me the best results. (I live in Bass Pro's home town) Now, 10 years later, for the life of me, I cannot find Wart Worms ANYWHERE ! And I haven't caught hardly bass ! I've even let myself try lizzards, with not much luck. Maybe I'm just getting older and losing my touch, but keep telling myself, "If I only had some Wart Worms" . Does anyone know where I could find them ?

Welcome aboard.

Better watch that baitmonkey though. He will start poking and grabbing at things you don't want grabbed. ;D

Not familiar with the Wart worm. Must have missed that one.

He always has his hand in it. Just driving down the road and seeing a tackle store. Everybody knows it......that little urge.. a slight tap on the brake pedal.... that little thought...Hey I wonder if they carry this? Its all good, its not a sickness really. I can control it at any time.... Maybe I just dont want to. 8)

The monkey drove me to autozone the other day where he had me buy a new battery charger. Now he is telling me I need a new deep cycle battery before I go on Spring Break. Oh well, I know he is right...and textbooks can in fact wait.

No Wart Worms? Try the Tiki Sticks by Wave Worms and you'll find out these will catch bass. I already have 20 packs bought for 2005.

don't give up on the lizards. texas rig em, carolina rig em, or it just might take rigging them weightless & flipping the into the tulleys.
don't know where to find wart worms.
Now's the days of the rubber jerk baits & senko's if all else fails!! I always fall back to goog old reliable lizards if 6'' does not work small 4" will work for sure
good luck!!

Denbar, welcome to the forum. I've never heard of Wart worms, but I suspect your problem is more than the lack of this particular bait. It's most likely not being in the right place at the right time.

There are dozens of brands of worms and other plastics that will produce great. You didn't ask for my advice, but I'd shift my focus from finding Wart worms to finding bass.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

Welcome, I carried that bait monkey with me to the Boat Show at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. I picked up a new Quantum reel. The wife was with me and you know what, that little bugger whispered in my wife's ear and told her I should buy the reel. Thanks bait monkey!!

Welcome to the forum, Denbar!

I remember them-a ribbed worm or ringworm is probably closest to them.

Is it me or does the bait monkey get more powerful this time of year?

You can go to this web site and see if any one makes this type of bait you might get some good deals on some plastic's.

Guy's on this site make their own stuff.

[ftp]
http://www.tackleunderground.com/mod...t&cat_id=4[/ftp]

Just go to the soft bait photo's and look at some of the stuff see if there's anything your looking for.

Hope this might help.

Robby.

Welcome, and I haven't a clue which is more exspensive. My uncle used to fly them also, and it wasn't cheap.

Well as you can see from my name I would have to disagree with you on the Lizards not working. They are a great bait. I am not familiar with the Wart Worms, but you probably would think the wooly hogtails from YUM are pretty close from the descriptions I'm getting. One of my favorite alltime baits was a zipper style worm, recently discontinued from Powerbait, called the Pulse worm. You can also find the zipper style from lots of different companies, included http://www.bearpawhandpouredbaits.com where he has one, he bought the mold for me to try to match up the Pulse worm. It's a great design, the zipper style that is, lots of folks refer to them as wooly bug also.

You're old enough to know things change, and this is just one of them. Glad you came back to bassin, hope we can help you along the way with your bait monkey.

There are so many worms on the market,it will be a trial and error kind of thing. Berkley power bait is my number one worm of choice at this moment.

Gonna sell my bait monkey on Ebay, my local pawn shop says they already have too many as it is.

For sale: Bait monkey loves duct tape, spending my money and sweet talking my wife. $1.00

I hope this works....

I live in Miramar, FL just north of Miami so temperature here these days has been around the 60s low 70s during the day.

I've tried bread, plastic worms, minnows, and shiners and after a year, I got a bass (smallmouth) with a shiner.

What does work best for bass?

thanks,

thecocacolaman

Welcome to the forum, ccm!

What works best? Ask 1000 anglers and you will get 1000 different answers ;D. So, lets narrow it down a little. What are the conditions where you fish? What I mean is are there a lot of weeds? No weeds? Flooded timber? etc. If you give us a little info like that we can give you some specifics that might work.

Welcome

And what Rebasser said, need a little more info. Really surprising to see you catch a smallie that far south, in Florida. Anyway, just about anything that moves will catch bass. But you must know where they are to catch them. So if you aren't fishing where they are, you'll never catch any
