Default Replacement of Trolling Motor

I need to remove the trolling motor and the only way to get to the bolts is via the rod locker in the Javelin. Any clue how to get the the bolts if your arms are not four feet long? ???

My boat had a small access panel up front. Took it off and had all 6 bolts within arms reach. Just replaced mine about 2 weeks ago. 8)

If that doesn't work, just grind off the screw heads, or drill them out. That will solve the problem of removing the old one. As for getting the bolts up in there to remount a new one. I would use a socket set, with a long handle. Put some paper or styrofoam in the socket, so the nut is kept at the top of the socket. Then turn the bolt on top to get it started. I would also make sure you use some good lock washers, for keeping it snug, and easier tightening.

Use a board or pipe to make it longer. Or even a piece of plastic pipe. This is something you need to improvise. Heck tape it to a broom handle if that's all you have.

once you get the old bolts out(drilling or whatever)just get the motor guide mounting kit with the rubber grommets with the built in nuts..i had to get longer bolts for my minnkota but they are a standard 1/4-20 thread i believe.easy to install, hold up well.
i also have a small access panel on my gambler,so i drilled 2 extra holes and used bolts with washers and nylon locknuts.just to be safe

I'd think there would be a front panel of some kind. I've got a Nitro, and there is a panel where the trolling motor plug is. Even so it was still kind of tough to get to the back bolts when I replaced my TM.
