My main fishing partner has a couple of Pflueger Presidents. He also has a Shimano Castaic and a Chronarch. He prefers the Shimanos over the Pflueger, but this is not to say that he doesn't like the Pfluegers, just that the Shimanos are his "go to" reels.

FWIW, he had several Pinnacles when he started out last year, but he has replaced them all with Pfluegers and Shimanos.

Personally, I have 4 Curados and I think the the President and the Curado are very similar. I just picked up a Castaic and can definitely tell the difference over the Curado. I also have 1 BPS extreme. It is a good reel for the money, but it is not as smooth as the Shimanos or Pfluegers. I really do believe that you get what you pay for.
