I am not sure what you mean by best top water reel, but one things for sure, it will work for anything you want to use it for. I have at least one of every model Pflueger has out, and any and all of them are great.

Let us know what you think about it.

Oh, it's a great reel. It has more bearings(7) than the Trion(5), for less money. The only drawback is the fact that the Purist, unlike the Trion, the President, and the Solero, is that it does not have as easy access to the Brake pins. Witht the others, you just turn a realease on the left side and you are there. Witht the Purist, you have to turn the knobs on the right side, hold the entire assembly, and remove the left side to access the brakes. like the older Ambassadeurs.

It does not take away from the fact that it is a great reel for the money, it is just not quite as conveniant as some models. However, The Pflueger brake system is very good, and I am generally able to set it with 4 pins engaged, and I never have to mess with it again.

My favorite reel Pflueger makes is the Trion Machined. Nice, beefy, round reel. Fits my hands good. Smooth, and also only around 80.00. The only reason I use more Trion LP is that they are available in more ratios.

You can use any model reel Pflueger makes with total confidence.if you ever have any questions about them, drop me a message or email.
