Re: hydo foils
I had one on my Cajun Paul Elias. That boat was butt heavy and even with 150 hp it was a little slow to get on plane. It did everything it claimed to do. Quicker hole shot, and it didn't affect my top speed. (it's out of the water on plane) I can't say anything about fuel mileage because I never checked it.
The biggest advantage to them I thouggh is they help you to stay on plane at lower speeds. Great for running those twisty little tidal creeks I fish down here. I might get one yet for my Carolina Skiff. Disadvantage? They look sort of funny I guess. I think I had a sting ray. I think the Dol-fin looks better. |

Re: hydo foils
Cajun is right. I am using a stingray and I have to get my motor higher because it is still in the water on plane. It has decreased my top end by about 3mph. It really does a great job keeping the boat on plane at low speeds.
