Depends.
Definitely not dying out. There's always at least 1 rod in my rig that has a spinnerbait on it. Usually half ounce in a pulsator, war eagle or picasso.
For me it's a great locater or bait for covering lots of water quick. That's mainly how i fish it. There are many Rick Clunn types who will throw a spinnerbait into the gnarliest cover imaginable and pull out toads. Conditions also dictate my decision to use it. If its calm and sunny I probably won't throw it. If it's crappy windy and choppy it's tough to beat. My .02cents. |

Not having spinner baits is like not having any soft plastics or any crankbaits. They are a bait classification of their own and are a neccessary component of any bass anglers arsenal. I don't use them everytime I go fishing. In fact if there isn't at least a chop on the water I probably won't throw one. I always carry some with me if one isn't tied on, just in case.

I like the idea of carrying a heavy spinnerbait on days when the wind is 15-20+ mph...the spinnerbait is easy to work compared to many other baits.

whenever it is too windy to throw a spinnerbait (since i am stuck on shore), i will throw a Yo-Zuri Rattlin' Vibe, (Rat - L - Trap), and i it usually works too.. just thought that i would shore this tip with ya! Thanks
