Default Rigging Tube Baits for Creek Fishing

In your opinion, what is the best way to rig a tube bait when fishing a creek full of rocks? I love fishing tube baits for smallies, but have problems hanging up. I normally just Texas rig with a bullet weight, but when fishing creeks I stuff an 1/8" oz. casting sinker inside the tube and Texas rig a 2/0 hook. However, I have been missing many fish and the fall of the lure looks bad to me.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kevin

I was working out this same problem today. I didn't get the chance to do it, but will next time out. Drop shot, with a pinched on split shot, so if can pull right off when it does catch in the rocks.

I use the weight pictured. Its called a gitzit glider weight. It fishes alot different than a bass sinker stuck in a tube. P N J
