I have always used crankbaits extensively and there are dozens and dozens that work very well. If I were forced to choose one, it would be the original Rapala Shad Rap. Color is not high on my list of priorities.

my new favorite crank. Its what I used to catch 4 fish between 4-6lbs in half an hour last week with lizards up at rodman. used the 5 1/4" in Alt. Menhhaden #30. Notice the price for that particular color. Fairly cheap for a crank of that size.

I really don't have one. As Marty says, there are many that work well. If I had to choose it would be a Smokey Joe Rat-L-Trap.

Any lipless rattler in crawdad or a baitfish pattern such as bluegill. They have produced the biggest fish for me this winter.

my favorite crank is a Bomber Fat Free Shad in shad..brown back with the silver sides, for 8-12' of water, you can't beat it. other than that, probably a shad rap RS, or DT-6 or DT-10 in shad, craw, and firetiger.

My favorites were made by Carolina Chip www.carolinachip.com , and have Lizardsrulebass written on them. I love looking at those. I have several that I throw during different conditions/cover/clarity etc... I won't take just 1 crank with me.

My current favorite is the Rapala DT series. Generally, when fishing smaller bodies of water, I will go with the DT4 or DT6 in Shad or Bluegill pattern.
This year, I purchased some of the new Sure Set series. I dislike the hooks but I am fond of the new colors, especially the bleeding bass. Looking forward to giving this color a try this season. |

LOL!! Everyone has posted all the new and exciting baits in wild exotic colors and I thought this is a bit funny. Ever thought about the fact you prolly got several old baits that ALWAYS caught fish but that new purle headed warrior you seen just HAVE TO HAVE IT and now those old RELIABLE baits are just sitting there. Hmmmmmmm .............so my answer to the question is
Bagleys balsa B's and the good ole Bomber 6a do great for me. Not saying I dont use that purple headed warrior but the ole standby's still kick A@@!!!!!!

ATTENTION BASSANGLERS: Due to bass fishing being new and improved, bass are being advised not to bite any bait made before 1993. Due to this fact all lures made prior should be sent to ILbassin for proper disposal. Thank you. But my favorite is the Bandit. Good hooks, they run great, easy to get, and they work. |
