Is Red Hot??
Now a days you see it every where, from worm hooks and treble, spinner bait skurts and jigs skurts, to tubes and spots crankbaits, RED! Strike king even labled theres as bleeding bait series. Do you think a red hook makes a difference than a steel one, or even a blue or green hook ect.....?
Thanks and good fishin fishin' fool |

Re: Is Red Hot??
If the bass are feeding and you're looking for a reaction bite, yeah it probably helps a little. Other than that I don't think it makes much of a difference. I buy red hooks anyway, just cause they're the same price and I think they look cool. 8)

Re: Is Red Hot??
IMO...they don't make a darn bit of difference.
i have tried red hooks and noticed absolutely no difference. this was throwing a red shad senko wacky rigged under docks.kept getting hung up and breaking off(tourn)grabbing whatever hook came our of the mess 1st.used red,bronze,black...made no difference.caught lots of fish. don't jump all over me,just my opinion. |

Re: Is Red Hot??
I'm a firm believer in the red hooks on moving baits but haven't noticed a difference for plasics and jigs

Re: Is Red Hot??
I am firmly convinced they work. The reason is that I put a red treble as the front hook on my cranks and the fish target that hook.I still have a few that do not have the red front, and the fish get the rear hook on those.
They make a differance. Charles |

Re: Is Red Hot??
Well in my opinion i think it makes a bit of a differance
when i go to the store i buy two types of tubebaits on thats gray and green and one thats red and yellow. and everytime the red gets more strikes the the green at the end of the day my red is ripped up and my green is fine hardly touched and its the same company and bait just different colours |

Re: Is Red Hot??
I replaced hooks on my ratltraps. Put red on front or back-depended on my mood. Have had increased strikes since this. Have also had better hookups with new hooks because as most know ratltraps hook are not the best out of the box. 8)

Re: Is Red Hot??
I've never used any and don't plan to unless something changes my mind. Thus far, all I've seen is anecdotal evidence, nothing compelling enough to make me believe there's a difference.
Fishermen have been catching bass on non-red hooks for many years. Are catch rates really up since the introduction of red hooks? I find it fascinating that with all the talk about the attracting power of red, the popular Cajun Red line is sold on the basis that it DISAPPEARS underwater. As usual in fishing, there are contradictions about every aspect, except we all agree that our chances of catching fish are better when our lures are wet. Or do we disagree there too? |

Re: Is Red Hot??
marty,when i say i'm wit chu,i'm wit chu...
ixnay on the edray hooks way...although i do believe a little red on a bait may help and red shad is the way to go for soft plastics. ;D i think the red hooks catch a lot of fishermen. again,it's a matter of confidence.....so i guess we're all correct. |

Re: Is Red Hot??
In my opinion they work. Ever since I bought some it has icreced my bites by quite a bit. See I live on a small lake and the fish arent the easiest to catch in the world so when i tried this it WORKED GOOD.

Re: Is Red Hot??
Tom, it's been a few years since I've communicated in Pig Latin, but I was still able to understand you.
I agree that red shad is a good color for soft plastics, actually, one of many good colors. But, of course, it's a pretty different shade of red from the hooks and other stuff that seems to be so hot. But I'm still willing to buy red hooks if and when I see some convincing stuff. |
