Default Fluke Retrieve, I cant quite get it right!

I caught 1 on a fluke, by slowly dragging it back then when I felt the hit, I started going faster, then he slammed it hard. It was a dink, but It was my first fish on a Fluke. Okay, so now, I cant find any retrieve that works after I caught this one fish. Any help is appreciated.

Don't worry they are hard to use when you first get to using them. I like to use them just off bottom, just let them dance a bit on bottom and let it rise 3 to 4 feet and le it drop you usually get the hit on the drop! then let it dance on the bottom buy wiggleing your rod tip up and down. "but not too crazy" makes it look like a minnow feeding off bottom.

the second way to fish em is to do a side to side action then a little stall then side to side with a stall with a medium retrieve. youll get the hit on the stall.

A few ideas any ways.

Robby.

The twitch and pause like Rob mentioned is good. Another good way is to fish them around surface vegetation, such as lily pads. Bring them over, around and through the pads (or whatever), and let them sink into openings or at the edges. Be a line watcher. Most of my strikes with these lures and other soft plastics are detected without feeling anything, but seeing the line moving off to the side. When you see this movement, reel up most of the slack and set the hook.

The guys are right. Twitch and pause. You can do that near the bottom, surface or anywhere in the water column. If bigmouth is real skittish, try gliding withoutout twitching, and especially deadsticking!
