I don't have a favorite rat-l-trap because I don't fish them to much. But in a cloudy day I would use on that is painted, a brighter color would even be better. Since it's cloudy, throwing a chrom/silver would not be as visible since no sun would reflect off of it.
I think a rat-l-trap doesn't have to be as visible on a cloudy day, or in stained or muddy water because of the sound it produces in the water. The lure can be heard a few yards away before they bass ever see's it. Thats why a rat-l-trap is a good lure for night fishing!!

I have about 14 different colors of traps. Primarily on cloudy days I have 4 I use. Gold w/ orange belly, Gold w/ red coloring- kinda looks like a craw,firetiger,red/ w gold reflective, I also have a new one that Ive yet to use. Zilla has the picture above. Sunny days- silver, silver/black back, silver/blue back, silver/red back, smoky joe. Traps are probably my most thrown bait, guess you could call them a confidence lure. I really dont like that term though. Im learning not to rely on a certain lure to throw, but at what time to throw a certain lure. 8)
