Default Fishin trip tomorrow!! Want to try something new

Hey guys I'm taking a trip tomorrow to the Mattawoman creek, a little branch off of the potomac river, I'd like to try something new, I've had luck with spinners, senkos, and buzz baits there but you guys here seem to have quite a bit of knowledge so I figured I'd pick your brains a little bit. It's going to be sunny and in the low 90's the water there is usually a little muddy, there is just about any type of cover there you could possibly think of, fallen timber, overgrown banks, piers, lilly pads a few marshy areas that have pretty much straight drops to 6 ft on the edge of em, the average depth is around 6 foot with some holes down to about 12. I'll be hitting the creek around 4am and hanging out pretty much all day, fishin from a boat. The fish range in size from 1 to 8 lbs. Feel free to throw out some ideas, I'll take a trip to Bass Pro tonight and I'll let you guys know the outcome tomorrow! Here's two maps of the creek

We have been going out in the early morning and about the same conditions, we have been having great results with the buzzbait...I been throwing the spinnerbait and chartruse buzzbait, Denny has been throwing the black buzzbait with a chartruse grub

Try a chartreuse crankbait if the water is stained, or a shad color in clearer water.

Your current bait selection sounds pretty good to me!
Senkos rigged weightless work great-just let them fall and drift with the current.
But, if you want to try something new, yamamoto worms in 196 work great in murky water.
Also, try fishing spoons, like daredevils and silver minnows- let them flutter in the current while jigging every now and then. If the water is deep enough, like in a current break or pool*, a jigging spoon can also work great! (try swimming a jigging spoon, it gives fish a different look)
If the bass are eating more crayfish, a rubber imitation worked on the bottom can be a sure success. Make sure to weight the tail; crawl the craw along the bottom and occasionally give it a sharp jerk. make sure it stays near the bottom
crayfish cranks can also work.
As a last resort, you might want to try fishing jig and pigs-always with real pork!
Good Luck!!
*deep pools often hold the biggest fish: allways start at the back of the pool and move to the front.

Well Mr Frost, now we are talkin' my stomping grounds. In Mattawoman,I loved throwing the buzz bait at first light,up until are 7:30 A.M.Then I would work the lilly pads with a frog bait like the H+H Swamp frog with huge success.I would also throw a senko type bait around the edges of cover and in the holes of the pads or weeds. It's been a few years since I've been, sold the boat during my divorce.I hope the pads/weeds are well grown this time of year. and remember that all the big ones I pulled out of there came of the edge of weeds or pads closest to the channel this time of year. If the water is dirty or stained throw a jig-n-pig with rattle or tube with rattle. I hope this helps.
