Re: Best name brand jig to use?????
JB, I don't know where my post went but here it is again. The only time I think color matters most is in the fall. A brown craw color will out fish any other color in the same boat as long as the weight and jig profile are the same. I don't give colors alot of thought unless the jig bite is off or they are striking the jig on the retrieve. I will switch to a green color jig and trailer, otherwise I fish whatever is the size I want for the fall rate.I do use Black/red more than any other color simply because no one else here uses that color and the 2 colors contrast well so it is versitile for any water color as well as sky light conditions.Black /blue does the same but everyone uses that color here. I hope this helps, ;D P N J

Re: Best name brand jig to use?????
JB, After reading my post it looked short, I use a Black/blue/ Purple color when they are feeding on panfish. The Black/brown/amber color works well also and the Black/green/ chartreuse color for panfish. Also where you have alot of current , do not underestimate the Zoom swimming chunk, you get alot of action from the trailer allowing you to fish it slower when the bite is tough. ;D P N J

Re: Best name brand jig to use?????
A jig can be measured by the quality of the hook it has. I stopped using Strike King and Stanley years ago for one reason or another. Now I make my own and only use a Gamakatsu black nickel round bend hook. If you like Rattling jigs, check out Rippler Jigs.

Re: Best name brand jig to use?????
the gap is something to be considered to imo
esp when you have a big chunk of pork, is there enough hook left to set with? i hardly ever go over 1/2 ounce in jigs, mostly 3/8 or 1/4 in fall |

Re: Best name brand jig to use?????
JB, I hardly ever go to a 3/8 oz. jig, I always use 1/2 oz. or heavier to 1 1/2 oz.I usually start with a 3/4 oz. jig. I think the hook is what makes the jig.I can change the rattles or skirting on it , but it has to have A 3/0 or bigger hook in it for my liking. Â*;D P N J
