Default your go to rod and reel

What is it? Mines and Fenwick HMX MH Spinning Rod with a Mitchell Avocet 8lb SpiderWireXXX Super Mono spooled on it. Reel and Line were a gift from my parents. I took it out and used it yesterday, perfomed very well. I am pleased and i hope to land some nice fish with. But back to the original question if you had to chose one rod and reel, what would it be, also state wether it would be casting or spinning.

I really don't have one. I can say it is a BPS Extreme reel and most likely an AllStar rod, but the model and type of line depends on the application.

A 6'6" MH Lone Star rod and Â*Quantum E650 PT reel.I chose this rod and reel because it is a versitile outfit, It has a about a 5 power rating tip, you can get away with using most lures without too much compromise. The reel is a 20" retrieve per turn of the handle, It is not suitable for run and gun presentations(picking up line quickly for the next cast), but it is powerful and can present most lures well enough to catch fish with them. The Quantum also is pretty smooth cranking and it casts very well.I do not use spinning gear, I strictly use baitcasters, I have absolutely no use for a spinning outfit, I don't miss using them either. ;D P N J

king
you put a $200 reel on a $75 rod?? at least match it up.

i use the e860pt-xm on a fenwick rod -one of there custom's that cost more than the reel- both are in the 200's. but using a reel of that caliber you need a really good rod i have a hand ful of quatum tour edition rods there are good rods not great rods.

Used to be an ugly stick with a mitchell 300. I have a lot of new rods and reels i will be using this year so I'll get back to you later.
