Default Photos 5/29

I got out on the water yesterday for a bit on a beautiful sunny day and brought the camera along.

I didn't land any fish for you guys to see, but I still nabbed some pretty photos (or so I think )

View from the bottom of my backyard. The swamp isn't quite green yet, but the trees across are. Spring is here!

Rain, rain, rain, rain! But I bailed the canoe out and here it is ready to go.

As you can see, some heavy shadows in those trees. I tried that area without much success, but it sure was nice to get away from those BFs.

Neighbor. A lot of those trees are actually dead, I'm waiting for them to fall into the water and make some nice logs!

Usually by now, this area has lilypads and other weeds the bass hide in! But because of our very, very, very cloudy May, the weeds are far behind in growth.

That sure was some pretty still water right there.

I did decide to try some logs. This large log right there has given me some nice bass in the past, but nothing there yesterday. I tried a worm, slug-go, and then ran a spoon by.

It was a nice day. The water is probably creeping into the 50's by now, and some weeds are coming up in groups. The best thing to do now is be optimistic, after all, school is out in a couple of weeks, and by then, the fishing should be prime!

I was hoping to get some pictures of the ducks or geese, but they weren't out. Ah well. Might be heading back out today, but it looks like (surprise!) another rainy day.

Update:

2 pickerel and 1 bass today! They were all small (I estimate the bass at 9 inches) but it felt great to get some fish!

Hey Lone, I was meaning to post this on another post you made replying to someone. Try running a spinnerbait over the emerging vegetation.

Lizards

PS: Nice piece of property there

Lone, you might not get to fish but 6 months of the year, but when it warms up you got some nice looking turf there. What else is in that lake besides bass?

I've only caught largemouth and chain pickerel... and one red-breasted sunfish (struck me by surprise.)

There's also brown bullhead, but I've yet to catch one.

Thanks, it is a great pond, I've pulled bass up to about 5 pounds out before.

i bet there are crappie in there too. try a beetle spin past that log 8) that is a great lake. hula is right, around here nothing like that. but if you get to northern florida, places like that become fairly common 8)

actually I didn't think it looked that great, not to diss your lake or anything. But around here, we've got some REALLY STUNNING lakes. That one definately had some nice scenery, but on a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say a 5. There is a small lake in the Ocala National Forest that I would give a 10, Its a 50 acre lake nestled deep in the Forest, all access points need 4 wd and even with 4 wd youre gonna have problems, no boat ramps, lots of hills around the lakes, cypress extending way into the lake, islands, inlets, coves, swampy marsh, downed timber, plenty of brush, deep water, extended flats of shallow water, and large enough that it never dried up, yet one of the least underfished small/medium sized lakes in the ONF. If you any of yall are interested in going fishing here, let me know.
