Re: LIGHTNING AND STORMING BEDDING STAY PUT?
why would they leave? rain and lightning have nothing to do with them in the short run. the buramutic pressure(SP) might throw them out of swing, but if they have already begun, i dont think that will afect them? but the lightning has nothing to do with them, or the rain, if it rains awhile, it might flood, and their beds may become to deep depending on how flooded it is, but thats about it.

Re: LIGHTNING AND STORMING BEDDING STAY PUT?
Wind can move them off a bed if we are talking really really shallow, but you need a good bit of wave action for that.

Re: Lightning and Storming Bedding Stay Put?
I'm not sure if bass remain on their beds or not during a storm, but thunder and lightning sure can cause them to get lockjaw. lol. I'm not too fond of being out on the water during a storm anyway.

and even if they do go off it, they will return. i think your main concern was wether or not the bass would give up the bed, they wont, they will come back.

Re: Lightning and Storming Bedding Stay Put?
i fished a tourney in a severe t-storm.had to lay on the deck and cast..we were still catching them shallow during that storm,so i don't think rain and t-storms will chase them off their beds...unless a bad cold front comes through and even then,IMO it would take a day or so for them to feel the effects of the front and move a little deeper.
i don't recommend fishing in a t-storm but i had no choice.we had good fish and a shot at some $$$..(i think we came in 2nd that day,dam CRS) |

The stormy weather affects fisherman much more than it does fish. I don't make it a habit of fishing in storms, rain and snow yes all day, but lighting no. But I have before, and knowing me will again some day. Just can't seem to quit when I catching crap loads of bass Lizards |

Re: Lightning and Storming Bedding Stay Put?
some things are worth getting struck by lightning, and I'd have to say catching bass is one of them.

Like I said I don't make a habit of it, and I'm not always thinking when I'm fishing :-[ But I will say that a lot more golfers get struck by lightning than fisherman Lizards |

Re: Lightning and Storming Bedding Stay Put?
Just a sidebar note here:
The people that I have run into bass fishing that have witnessed lightning strikes claim that right before the strike occurs all the hair on their arms stands up due to the static electricity in the air, and dove to the bottom of the boat for cover........or so they claimed lol :-/ |
