The main modification I do on lures is change the standard hooks that come on crankbaits. Typically I'll go a size bigger and I like the Mustad Triple Grips the best. I'll also change blades on spinnerbaits if that's considered a modification.

well, i know the pros mod their pop-rs like this

sand it so that the belly is thinner. should evenly taper. then, sand the inside of the mouth to make it crisper. make the edge thinner as well. then paint. ill see if i can find the article

nother mod- drill holes in buzzzbait blades. another is to wrap wire around hooks fo just a bit more weight. or you could stick a small nail or lead insert into a worm right in front of the hook bend.

I repair a lot of DT series Rapala crankbaits that have broken lips, with genuine Lexan lips, bulletproof.

Replace most crankbait trebles, with one size bigger, and maybe bleeding hooks. ALWAYS replace Bill Lewis Rat'l Trap hooks.

on zoom brush hogs, use a razor blade to cut the two tail tentacles in half the long way, making them into four skinny ribbontails......then cut a V notch in each of the side appendages, the lobes, making them look like claws.....

cut off the head of a lizard and weld it onto a culprit 7.5 inch worm....use a candle flame to do the welding and avoid the fumes.... These snakes can be swum on top just fast enough with the rod tip up to keep them on the surface....great over weedy areas and submerged trees....

Use a pegged bullet weight pegged tightly agains the lizard body to replace the missing head....

maybe i can explain? you first cut off the lizard's head. then using a flame, partly melt both the back (end that was cut) of the lizard head and the front of the worm. when both are sticky put them together and let them cool. they will be bonded together. then use the flame and go around the whole section that was fused. do not burn it. use a blade to cut off the little thick part you get around that section.

Phydiox, Mac is also known as Dr. Mac-N-Stein. He is always experimenting with different modifications.

Just like you would with a regular worm. All you are doing is welding the head of a lizard on to the front end of a worm.

gorilla once fused its just like any other bait. rig it how you want, its like something you'd buy from the store. treat it no differently.
