Conroversey at the Classic!
Ike disqualified for the day for throwing a temper tantrum. Then again, he did cull a dead fish. While not against the rules it sure doesn't sit right if you know what I mean.

Go to Bassmasters.com It routed me to ESPNS BassMasters page. I believe they're showing Ike in last place with no fish.

Il, they just announced it at the end of the 1st day weigh-in, so I don't have a link-yet.
Cranky, in a tourney and you have a 5-fish limit and you catch another fish that is bigger than the ones in the live well you release the smallest fish and replace it with the bigger one you just caught. It is called culling.

Goes right back to the money thing. It infuriates me to no end what MONEY does to some peolpe. Yes I enjoy a nice fat check for winning a tourney but I get more satisfaction knowing I just whooped up on some fellow bass anglers and was able to seduce them that basses better than the next guy. MONEY RUINS EVERYATHINAG.

Saw it on TV this morning..He got DQed for UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT,whixh is against the rules in any sport. He may be a good fisherman, but I don't think he'd have all this recognition he hadn't started that whole yelling thing.ESPN and BASS picked the wrong guy to be their "poster boy".The young guys may love him,but a lot of old schoolers, including myself, have no use for him.If I want to see a bunch of yelling,I'll watch Springer. my$.02 here you go IL..http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/b...classic_Ike_DQ by the way..welcome back ILBassin

this what Trip Weldon said was the problem.Cranky I understand youre a kid bit can you honestly say you approve of his actions? It may look "cool" to you kids now,but imagine years down the road ,when you have kids of your own,and being witness to this. The last two times I've seen Iaconelli on TV they had to bleep out more than they didn't.What kind of message does that send?Your 5 year old is like "why does he curse so much".how do you answer that? This man is "supposed" to be a role model.Don't want any kid I know to be like that.Again just my opinion, and you know what they say about those

Ike is an Idiot. PLain and Simple, this "stunt" really makes me dislike him. Throwing an American Flag around, pisses me off to no end. Way to go Ike.
I am actaually hoping Swindle wins it.

almost in all sports there are people we call role models, people we look up to and respect and enjoy seeing and hearing what they say. bass people have ike, baseball has sammy sosa and a host of others, nascar has tony stewart whose concept of anger management is get them before they get you, or if they get me, sorry for their bad luck cuz i got em back, football has their share of knife wielding, women battering athletes, hockey is not above the firing line as of late, i agree that money and the volume of it paid to these athletes, in their own minds makes them greater than the sport itself. i believe it is the spectators and supporters of the sports that make the person what they are. if people would not purchase tickets, buy paraphernalia or watch those events, then the salarys of all athletes would not be what it is today. right or wrong, good or bad, if athletes had to support their families on the money that i contribute to their sport, then i think most of them would be working in a meat factory in nebraska for seven dollars an hour. the whole spectrum of role models and sports is something that has evolved to new heights, and i dont think any of it is new. bads sportsmanship has been around for a long time. and i dont think that will ever change because those poor athletes are laughing all the way to the bank at us.

I hate to see things like that happen, it gets people in all types of sports. It happens in baseball, football and so on. Lord knows it's happened to me more than a few times. I hate to admit it,but it has. It is not a good thing, all that happens is the fans and sponsors are let down. No good comes of it.

Well, I don't think getting DQ'ed for the day will hurt Ike that much. Since I'm a loser and I have a subscription to Bass Insider, I have an up to the moment leader board. Ike has caught 8 keepers so far today. I bet he'll probably make it in the top 25 which will put him above the cut. Then day 3 is anyone's game. As it stands, you need less then 12lbs. of bass to make the cut. But that will just get you into 25th place for Yesterday.... so, we'll see.

I am new to watching these tournaments so I don't understand why they are all in Triton boats, since they are the sponsor all the guys have to use them? Are all the tournaments like that? |
