I was just at Clarence for a gun show. I don't fish over that way because you have Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, and the Niagra reservoir running between them around Grand Island. I do fish Lake Ontario alot just not that part of the Lake. Where are you fishing and maybe I can get you started in the right direction. P N J

PNJ,

Â*Do you smallmouth fish over at erie? We go up with the bass boat and take the ferry over to middlebass island and cast grubs for football size 3-4 lb smallmouths.
I know your at the other end of the lake , I am guessing it takes a few hours to get there, we are 4 hours south west near dayton.
We used to go walleye fishing all the time but switched gears to bass fishing, but still like the thrill of erie fishing

I fish erie alot in the summer, mainly because I am only 15 minutes from it in Bellevue. I always go up there and throw a Goby Colored Tube off of the Sandusky City Pier in the Summer and catch tons of 3 - 4 + pounders too! I think tubes work the best for shallow pier fishing.

JB, I haven't in a while. My uncle and I used to go fishing at Erie until he passed away. I haven't been back since. Have you ever caught an Erie eel ? P N J

JB, This is what I was talking about, they are great eating, not so great getting off the hook though. They kind of feel like a snake when they wrap around your wrist and arm as your trying to unhook them. In my opinion they are only second to a Walleye as far as eating fish goes. We have bigger smallmouth bass alot closer than lake Erie, but I would like to go back to catch more eels. P N J
