Default Fuel Water Separator

Guys, I'm wanting to add a fuel water separator to my fuel line. Any recommendations? It will be external to the engine in-line between the bulb and the engine.

Just go with the one your engine manufacturer makes. That way no compatably issues, not that there should be any anyway.

REB,

What year and make is your motor? Are you sure there is not a factory separator under the cowl already?

Jack-it is a 2001 Merc but has only the fuel filter under the cowel.

Got another question-install between the bulb and the engine or the tank and the bulb?

I put mine between my tank and the bulb. Like Tom said just make sure you can get to it to change the cartridge.

REB,
You might go talk to your mechanic and ask if there is a factory fuel filter/water seperator for later model Merc's that could be retro-fitted in place of your current fuel filter. This would simplify the installation, be easy to get to and be available at a Mercury dealers shop.
It can't hurt to ask!

Thanks, Jack-I got 'er done. Had to improvise a mount for it but I think it will work. Hopefully I'll find out this weekend.
