Flamez,
Stop throwing the "P" word around, it just makes you look silly. As far as the boat goes put on it what you can afford and adapt around the tools which you can't afford. Kybasser |

I hear people all the time saying that they're gonna "pimp" their boat out with the newest stuff. I don't think flamez is trying to sound ghetto or anything, he's just joking around.

Oh yeah, back to the topic. I have no idea about depth finders and whats good for the money. I'd go with a minn kota trolling motor, I've used them and I love them. Most any are good including the saltwater ones. Depending on what you use the boat for you might want to consider getting a livewell, or you could just get a cooler with an arrator for five bucks. DON"T FORGEt to get a battery. Its one of the worst things to think you're ready to go and you're just about to get out on the water and you realize you don't have a battery.

I would start with the trolling motor first. Â*Don't skimp here, make sure the shaft is long enough that the head will ride at least two feet below the bottom of the boat. Â*The trolling motor is the most important part of it, unless your into hauling anchor 10 times everytime you go fishing untill you find some fish. Â*You can use your rods and reels as a sonar to give you an impression of the structure/cover. Â*They also work great as a fish finder ;D.

Without knowing what kind of boat you got, I wouldn't have any idea what to tell you to get. The basics would be a tolling motor, a battery, (with a battery box) a charger (You'd be surprised how many people forget that) and a depth finder. After that the sky's the limit. How much money you got, and how much do you want to spend?

Better get 2 batteries, and always take them with you. You may be young, and full of energy, but if your a mile away from the dock/shore you aren't gonna have any fun rowing back. Which also mean's you had better get a paddle, and a decent couple of life jackets. Here in Indiana we also have a boating law that you must have a throwable seat type Floatation device. I also know Illlinois has the same law. Make dang sure you know the boating laws. DNR folks have always been pleasant to me, but I've really seen them give some folks a hard time. Remember this phrase "YES SIR" and always be courteous and quiet while listening to them or responding to them. If they get a feel your cocky or mouthy, then forget about a warning
