Well when you start drivin, check out Pyramid park near Pinkneyville IL. It's only about an hour 20 from St Louis. Theres prolly 15 different strip mine lakes to choose from and most of them are good. As far as closer to St Louis I dunno.

Well you could try the Missouri Conservation website. http://www.mdc.mo.gov/ Then go the the conservation atlas. However, since these are on the website they are not secret.
However, down here the fishin in those lakes stink. Might be different up there though. |
