Yup, just make sure to get polarized sunglasses to see deeper into the water.

Re: Sunglasses
Polarized is what you need. Â*The more you spend the better the quality. Â*You can buy some for $9.99 or some for $599.00 Â*If you wear prescription glasses, they aren't cheap, but they make a heck of a difference.

Re: Sunglasses
They definitely make a big difference. You want polarized lenses, and as Lizards says you can go from cheap to real expensive. You can get solar Bat and Strike King at WalMart-the cheap ones will work, but you get what you pay for. I use 2 pair: Gray for sunny days, amber for cloudy/low light.

Re: Sunglasses
i use a prescription lens on my glasses in polized dark grey. i also find the yellow lens are great at night while fishing after dark. they also make a green lens which are pretty cool they tend to penatrate stained water a tad better than the greys.

Re: Sunglasses
i had a pair of cheap walmart ones but then i spent $150 on some costa del mar shades with the amber lense and it makes a huge difference. the amber brighten things up better than gray lense and makes it easier to see through the water.

Re: Sunglasses
I'll give my standard advice, which is, whatever you get, make sure they have near 100% protection from all the UV rays, for the sake of your eyesight.

Re: Sunglasses
The cheap ones are frauds from my experience. they work no better than ordinary sunglasses. (Coming from me! LOL)
The $150 ones tend to have better tints in them that actually do help you sight fish a bit. If you do a lot of sight fishing, it might be a good investment. If you fish in muddy or rusty water, put the $150 towards better use. |

Re: Sunglasses
Actually, Woo Daves has pretty good glasses for sale on his website for around $20.00 per pair.. The ones that he used to sell had glass lenses, which were distortion free. I do not know anything about the glasses he sells now. I use the Flying Fisherman brand glasses, which are available on thier website for around $50.00, depending on which model you want. They have hardened plastic lens, which helps keep them from scratching and come with a carrying bag that doubles as a cleaning cloth. Like REB, I also wear smoke on sunny days and amber on overcast days Even if you can afford nothing more than the $9.99 Wal-Mart specials, wear something to protect you eyes from the sun. This is 'specially true if you are riding in a boat. A large grasshopper, locust, dragonfly or some other debris could take out an eye. JackL |

Re: Sunglasses
As I've stated before on this board, the cheap glasses that you can get act just like the price, cheap.
Most have lenses that will scratch easily (plastic). I've owned about 5-6 sets of these types. Now I've got some glasses that are of a much better quality. These glasses have appx. 7 different coatings on them (each for a different effect). They are not that cheap, but they make all the difference in the visibility. Brown lenses for cloudy days, and grey lenses for clear days. Next I'll get some amber and some turtle back lenses for the days that they produce best. |

Re: Sunglasses
30,
And as I have stated before, "Cheap glasses are better than nothing." A lot of these kids are 14 years old and younger, and can not afford to buy high priced glasses. Most of them are hard pressed to afford a rod and reel. I would rather see them with cheap glasses than nothing at all! JackL |

Re: Sunglasses
FLAMEZ,
Nothing wrong with Solar Bats, a friend of mine in Texas fishes about 150 to 200 days a year since he retired and he will wear nothing but Solar Bats. It allows him to see submerged cover and stumps, as well as bedding bass. JackL |

Re: Sunglasses
Jackl,
Your absolutely right . Cheap IS better than none. Man I've owned my share of lesser expensive glasses. Once they got scratched up I just gave the glasses to my nephew. He is pleased, since cheap glasses actually are better than none at all. When I was younger, all that I could afford was plastic lensed glasses. Once a person gets older, think about buying some better glasses. They could be the most wise decision that a fisherman can make. |
