Are you sure they are bass and not smaller fish that are nibbling?
I asked a similar question about setting the hook and the guys on here totally helped me out. Put your rod tip down and start reeling, then lift the rod up hard and set the hook. |

when you say land em, that means you vcant get them to the boat, and into the boat. what you meant to say, is cant catch them. all you need to do is set the hook. reel the slack up, lower your rod tip, and pull it straight up.

Mayb eyou are waiting too long to set the hook. Â*Try putting some scent on that bait. Â*That usually helps to keep them holding on to it longer. Â*They may be spitting it out before you realize you actually have a bite.
Just remember, if it doesn't feel normal, then set the hook. Â* |

When you feel the "tap, tap" lower your rod tip to 8 o'clock, reel in the slack, then set the hook with a quick upwards set ."cross her eyes". If you're still having problems,it may be your lie .I was having this problem a few years back. You may be using line that has too much stretch. That's what my prob was.Try getting some low stretch line.It may solve your problems.

Re: I can feel the Hits, but can't set the hook?
Aren't you using like a 5 ft. Ultra Light setup with like 4 lb. test? With that set up it's really hard to get a good hookset. Trust me I've been there done that. Lost a lot of fish because I couldn't get a good hook set. You need to get at least a 6 ft. probably more like a 6 1/2 ft. medium heavy rod. Put some Fireline or Power Pro on your reel.
