Default pitchin rod

I'm looking to buy a pitchin rod. What I would like to get is one that is 7 and a half feet, one piece. I would like to spend around 80 to 120 bucks. I don't think I would like the kind that telescopes into the handle. What is your recommendation? Thanks.

well, a good recomendation is to move this to the bass classifieds. you will get alot more responses there. and dont get the telescopic unless you are a shore fisherman, and cant transport it easily.

bb, I use a 7-6 Falcon, but it is the kind that telescopes. They make them like that so it will fit in the rod locker of a boat. If you don't want to go that way I'd look for a 7' heavy action rod. A lot of the rod makers have one in their line.

Sorry If I wasn't clear. I do not want the telescoping rod. And how would I move this post to the classifieds?

Your asking for tips on what to buy, so this is fine. I have limted experience with them, but I have a GL2 that telescopes, and as Rebasser said, it's actually pretty handy. I actually wanted one because it collapses down and is easier to carry. It takes a second to set it in place, and you won't have a problem with it while fishing, just pull it out snug.

Most of the rods over 7 foot telescope to fit in a truck or more important a rod locker,
I throw a 7 ft ALL STAR rod and its ok, the biggest factor I can think of is getting used to the length, esp. fishing off the side of a boat, sometimes the rod tip hits the boat or the water.
it is convienant tho for reaching hard to get to trashy areas where bass often hide, you can reach out and hit little pockets with your lure with that extra foot.
Dont forget , if you throw with one all day, the rod is a tad bit heavier than your going to be used to,
the grip is a little bigger to cus of the telescoping .. 8) 8)
