crankbait question

i was just wondering what weather conditions make the bass want the shallow diving crankbait...thanx

Not sure if there is really an answer that really fits the question, but the best time of year I've found for a shallow diving crankbait is in the fall when the baitfish are in the backs of the coves before cold weather hits and the bass are up in the backs of the coves chasing them.

The small crankbaits are a good way to start out in the spring, the hatch is small, plus bass tend to seek warmer water in the spring, when the water temp is still 50ish.. usually the north east bank heats up first due to the angle of the sun, keep that in mind when you first go out and its still chilly out, a foot or two of water in the north bank could be a few degrees warmer than the rest of the pool 8)

To add a little to what IA said, this time of year they will work better early and late and if it is cloudy. If it is sunny the fish either are deep in cover or in deep water.

They are dynomite on shallow humps and flats also, especially on cloudy days.Also fish them over shallow weed beds, just barely ticking the weeds occasionally. Hold onto your rod.

They work about all year if presented correctly,
heres a tip, when you feel it hit something while cranking it in, stop and let it raise , then begin the retrieve again, or, the opposite, reel and let it sink if it does, like a rattletrap, then begin the retrieve, it produces a strike more often than just chucking it out n bringing it in
