Default How Do I Go About Becoming a Pro-bass fisherman???

18 years old, love bass fishing, I want to be a semi-pro or even pro. What do I need to know to do this, books...readings of any kind, good websites? certain area to re-locate to, just how do I go about doing something like that.

Just fish. get time on the water, fish as much as you can and get as good as possible. Start fishing local tournaments and work your way up, from there things will work themselves out. Just concentrate on fishing and winnin tournaments, sponsorships will come and you could go pro. Pro fishing is a huge commitment and most likely your dreams won't pan out, make sure you're ready for the worst. If you're not the kind of person who wakes up every morning and the first thing that comes to your mind is fishing, don't think of going pro.

All you need to do is find a local BASS Federation level bass club in your area, and start there.
The reason is that if you are successful at that level they put the top anglers in each club in state and regional tournies, and depending what place you get , you can advance to even higher levels, then at the end of each year they take the top 6 anglers in BASS ferdation and you get to fish the classic..
The exact same way Brian Kershal did before he got killed in a plane accident..

First of all you will have to be damn good and I mean really good. Second you will have to have tons of tournament experience or have a good amount. Third you will need the desire. Fourth you will need commitment. I would recommend starting out in a federation tournament and working your way up like Ike because even he said this was the best way.

1st- go to college, get a degree in marketing or business. This will do several things- it'll help you in managing your career, it'll give you start up capitol, and it'll give you something to fall back on-just in case. Join a bass club, sign up as a non-boater in the BFL division nearest you or BASS Weekend Series and FISH AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. No substitute for time on the water. I've heard alot of good things about Mike Iaconelli's CD "How to go Pro in 5 years or less"
