Re: here we go again
A metal fish stringer with the hooks. Undo the hooks and drag in across the bottom or use a 1 oz rattle trap and fan the area.

Re: here we go again
For that much money, I would be willing to jump in.
And the pond I go to has leeches. |

Re: here we go again
Ever see the movie the Sandlot? Well the premise is some kids hit a ball signed by Babe Ruth over a fence. After trying a whole lot of different ways to get the ball without having to jump over and deal with the gaurd dog, one kid decides that he might as well just go get it...so that is a what he does...
In light of that, my suggestion is to jump on in. ;D That is unless you live in minnesota. |

Re: here we go again
That's exactly what I was thinking, hell I bet it wouldn't have even touched the bottom before I jumped in and grabbed it ;D

Re: here we go again
My husband jumped in one time to get a $89 reel that i dropped in the water. It was alot deeper than 4-5 ft. and it was freezing cold outside, we had to go home so he could warm up and he didn't find it
Don't ask how it happened, i feel like an idiot already Sandra |

Re: here we go again
Hey Sandra how did you manage to throw your hubbies new reel in the lake? LOL I bet you were just mad at him.
Dont fret though we have all done it at one time. I lost a pole and reel off my boat with a float attached to it fishing for pike a few years back. It had a dead smelt under the float. I saw the float at first about 3 ft down but I drifted away from it and on next pass through there it was gone. I think a pike ate the smelt and took my outfit with it. It really ticked me off too as I had had that reel for over 30 years and had landed every Steelhead I had ever caught on it as well as a lot of Salmon and Pike. |

Re: here we go again
Lean over the side of the boat with a scuba mask ant try to locate it then try to hook it with another rod, That's if your too wussy to jump in after it!. If you had a cork handled rod it would have floated!

Re: here we go again
If it's only 4-5ft deep, get a yard rake and dredge the bottom. Then call the fire department and have them send out the scuba team.

Re: here we go again
Its only 4-5 feet. Jump off and stand up!!!!!! Use your toes and feel for it, do a handstand and feel for it. Grab the neighbor(preferably one you dont like) shove them under till hey come up with. Again 4-5 feet, unless you are a midget that shouldn't be a problem. 8)

Was fishing with my dad last fall and he was throwing a carolina rig. A 7' all-star rod with cork handle with a curado reel. He set the hooks on a fish and it popped right out of his hands. Trust me it DIDN"T float. You may get you a trot line and rig it with some trebble hooks and heavy sinkers and drag the bottome it may work. |

Re: here we go again
thats happened to me. i had put on of my rods on the dock while i was catfishing and i went to get my drink and my fishin buddy had just almost lost his and warned me about it and i just laughed cause i hadnt had a bite all day and then all i heard was a plop. i ran to the end of the dock and was about 2 seconds from jumpin in and realized that it wasnt worth it with the gators and all because it was just a cheap shakespeare rod and reel. it was ok tho cause i was fishin with my other pole and ended up reelin in my other pole. the fish wasnt on stiil tho. anyways i ould just jump in or if u dont want to do that then rig one of ur poles with treble hooks and fan the area with it. i dont know where ur located but as long as u dont have gators(im only worried about them this time of year) then just jump in and feel around.

Re: here we go again
I recovered a rod and reel one time using a weighted treble hook, the kind that used to be used for snagging (which wasn't the reason I owned the hook).
