Just have to fish it slow if the water temp is 50s, but I would tend to believe that most waters are warming up nicely by now..it was 63 surface temp here in ohio before that last cold snap, and since the warmer days have come it won't take long to warm it up.
I'd fish a pig n jig slow

when you say cold just how cold?

any thing between ice and 50 i look for inflow areas -where springs flow in to the ponds-currant is at least 3-5 degrees warmer than the rest of the lake/pond. then once it gets over 50 just about any where is good. till water temp hits the 80 degree mark then go looking for in flow again cause it will be that 3-5 degrees cooler. any thing from ice to 50 work very slow with jerk baits or a suspending lure of some kind. over 50 all lure will work -basicly-till the water gets real warm then i mostly go with plastic's and top water.
