Default Lure Covers

Surfing around I stumbled on this. This morning I tried it and it really does a great job!

A cheapie method of keeping crankbait hooks together is a simple rubber band, just wrap around all the hooks so that they rest under the belly.
I always put the lure on the top of my reel and then twist the line around the rod eyelets twice when we hit the road or store in the rod locker

I wrap the line, too, JB, but I still occasionaly get snagged on other rods. I just thought this was a great idea.

Only drawback is sometimes the shorter rodtips get inter twined with the others but all in all I think the rod line wrap is a winner..its old school lol

Rebbasser, Some where back in time I got a few lure wraps like your plans are made except mine are square and have a Bomber lure patch sewn on them. I use them when transporting my rods in the car without having the trebles hook into the interior or seat fabric.P N J

JB, I have a solution to that, too. I made one of these and have not had a tangle since I installed it:

I buy the lure covers myself. Another big up side to them is you dont always want somebody looking over the side of your boat to see what you're throwing.

I have several of the lure wraps, as Ilbassin can attest too. They are simple, and cheap. I want to be fishing, not untagling crap. I have not used the line wrapping technique though? Guess I'll have to give that a try.

Rebbasser, I know this is not what your posting about but my friend uses them and they work great, maybe it would help someone else out. ;D P N J http://www.nbswebstore.com/cgi-bin/web_store/web_store.cgi?view=products&cart_id=5230407_35 92&product=RodReelAccessories&manufact=STO R'S%20IT%20ROD%20COVERS

I got to try one of those at a BFL tourney this past weekend, worked great! I think this one is by the people that make the "ultimate lursaver" split rings. I plan on getting more of them- no untangling baits out of other rods.

Those have been around since they invented velcro and boy ol boy do they come in handy!
Also the covers for your reel are nice to. Many a time on the way to the lake I'll throw the rods n reels in the back of a pickup, and if they slide at all the finish on the reel usually gets scratched off..so a cover is well worth the investment to protect as well as a convience

Not only handy but sometimes a real necessity, donĀ“t ever leave a pig trailer without a pouch protecting it and keeping it moist, in our warm southern climate after half an hour you end up with something that resembles a piece of cardboard, a 3,000 years old egyptian mummy looks "fresher" than that thing you have on your hook.
