nj rapala is right a popper is # 1
a zara spook # 2
and # 3 is a manns _1 crankbait
evn though nj rapala didnt say the last one

the best time for topwater baits are in the fall
and as it gets closer the more and more i use these baits
i just got done fishing 30 minutes ago and caught a 5 and a 2
in a good thirty minutes. for a non-stocked lake thats pretty good
for only 30 minutes. i would kept fishing too if it didnt rain, it would of been a good day

actually dyas a tiki stick is good in any kind of weather so you didnt have to put that one but......................... i dont use tiki that much in fall because thats when topwaters the best and you should really try to use a popper because these things are all-time favorite lure.especially in august you should really trie this

I hatte my mann's -1, I've never had one that would run correctly or tune. They're worse than wiggle warts as far as tunability. I have several different cranks I'll throw in the fall(bomber 6a and 7a's., big "O'S", and baggly balsa B1's and B2's.) Cranks #1, Drop shot rig #2 tied with Top Water (buzzbait early, poppers later)#2, Then a 7" or 8" worm #3(jig-N-frog tied #3).

I have to agree with dyas on this one, I completley forgot all about the pop-r's, and I have to agree that the storm chug bug is the best pop-r style bait for me.

I agree with PowerBass... I'll have my Mathews bow in a tree in the Fall. As far as bass baits go:

Spinnerbait
Jig-n-pig
Chug Bug

On the river the 1/4 ounce white single blade spinnerbait is the lure of choice,at the back of the creeks off the main river, where ever shad are busting , run the spinnerbait near it or through it,

other places around here, any shad looking bait

jb is right bass go on a feeding frenzy during the fall they are looking for larger baits. so finesse fishing should be sidelined.

stein -well duh!!
fluke-white
a dt 4-6 -shad colors
a #7 shad rap-shad color

please note top water is not a great thing in the fall they tend to hit it more in the summer. some one said crawdad not a good idea most dads are hiding deep in the fall unless you are fishing for smallies in a river-hint hint- i prefur to kick it in the fall troller on at least 4 and cover water the pattetrn usally don't change a whole lot in the early fall. they will be more adgressive with there feeding instead of shutting off around 10-12am -check local listings. they will continue on all day..
