Default killin 'em w/ spinners

had a chance to go do some fishing today. And went to a lake that ive fished hundreds of times, except this time i went near the dam ( never fished this area before) the water is pretty clear and when your up on the bridge thats over the dam and look down you can see just about every fish down in the water. well anyways, i walked down to the shore line and started w/ some tube baits, after about 20 minutes or so landed a nice 2-1/2 pounder, then after that went cold for about an hour . within this hr i probably changed 3 diffrent baits and still nothing. so last resort i strapped on a black spinner bait and they just kept pounding it, within the first 5 minutes i landed 3 nice bass all over 2 lbs. and 2 that jumped off (not a good enough hook set i guess) but if i would have landed them it would have made 6 nice bass for the day. but ill take the 4 i did land ;D ;D, needless to say this is my new spot, hope they hit that good again tomarrow cause ill be going back

to be honest , im not to sure on the diffrent types of blades. i know there is diff. ones just not sure on the names of them. the blades that are on mine are the stock ones that came with it. the bottom one is long and narrow, the top blade is more tear drop shaped. in any case, they were lovin it

WTG Jim

Sounds like a great day fishing,
Heres some help on blades, most spinnerbaits have a small colorado followed by a willow leaf, theres combos of two or single colorado, as well as twin or triple
willow leafs,
Willow is for clear water over weedbeds, good on windy days,
Colorado or indiana are good for vibration and that thumping sensation, darker water....

thanks 02,
ive read in other posts that guys like to change out the stock blades that come on the spinners, or at least taking off the colorado and putting on a 2nd willow leaf, what are the benefits? if any? im thinking just more vibration under the water?

i dont do much foolin around with the blades, i do it sometimes tho. if i am fishing really murky/muddy water, i will cange out my blades to bot coloardo, and even add another colorado on. just like you said, its the vibration. i will also add some more beads for noise. when im fishin clear water, i will take the colorado off and add another willow leaf, or just only keep on on. and i will more then like have a painted blade on there. and less beads. but like i said, i dont do much foolin around with them, i usually just buy what i need, the times when i do mess with them is when im out fishin and adapting to the situation, or using them for saltwater, or cant find what im lookin for in stores. i have a spinnerbait with 4 blades on it. i have heard that 5 blades will make it topple over. so i keep it at 4 willow leafs. oh ya, in murky water i like a gold colored blade, and in clearer water i like a silver blade, or painted. hope this helps.

whats a good one to get (spinner) thats pretty durable, the one i have is a strike king.(seems a little flimsy) and to be honest, i think the fish i was catching today tweaked it out of alignment, if thats possible?

I like to use the terminator spinnerbaits they seem to hold up season after season. the price is usually a little more than the strike king, but hey what's money when your catching big bass. The Booyah spinnerbaits are also pretty decent

i love strike king, but they are a bit pricy. the spinner bait should have some flexibility to it, and if you hold it together, it should return to its normal possition when let go. there are titanium spinnerbaits that are very durable, and also pricy. i get strike kings and those cheap walmart $1 spinnerbaits and they do fine. i also have some other spinnerbaits like picasso and a custom one(the 4 bladed one) and a few other i forgot their name. ya, i have also some booyahs, mostly the smaller ones, they seem to wotk well in ponds, or when you need to downsize.

Good job. Two weeks ago I used a yellow spinnerbait and caught a 4lber. It had 2 willow blades. Gold and hammered finish. This Holiday weekend they were no where to be found. I must have tried 20 different baits. I caught 2 dinks on a spinnerbait. It was yellow with 2 colo. blades. Will try again this weekend.

willow blades are for flash, colorado blades are for vibration, for the sound.

Very similiar to the colorado blade. I'm computer handicapped, so I can't post a picture of all three. Plus there are some blades, that I don't think they even have a name for, just made to specifically fit a manufacturers feel for what they like. Such as the Vibratron, now that's a weird looking blade, but man does it put out some vibes ;D
