Default not a bass.. but

i don't fish for bass down here as it is too far to travel.
so i figured as i come across pics i will post to give you an idea of what we catch around SE Queensland.

this is one of the species i chase

'Snapper' this is not mine, this young fella 'Troy' is pretty proficient at catching these . this one weighed in at 18.3 lbs & was caught using 6lb fierline & a 12lb leader on a 5" super zoom fluke . this is a very good fish for Moreton Bay. they tend to live in reef areas sthat makes this an even better effort on light gear.

i am yet to get one even close to this size,

yep, saltwater.
thought you may have something similar, with a diff name over there?

they supposedly get the bump from banging their head while feeding on the reef. the bigger they get the more pronounced

WE've gto plenty of snapper here in fl, and something that looks quite a bit like it called a redfish. Our snapper typically live a bit further offshore while redfish are in intercoastal waterways.

Very nice fish, and I already like you Seems like most folks would've taken credit for it, but you humbly admitted you haven't caught anything close to it YET. What a idea, and honest fisherman
