Default pflueger president baitcaster

i setup my new pflueger preident baitcaster tonight on my new johnny morris signature series 6-6 m-h rod. i decided to see if it would cast weightless trickworms.this reel casts these with no problem what so ever.i can't wait until next season to pit this thing to work.here's a section of the review on the reel from tackle tour.

Casting: We loved the President's casting ability, in fact we reveled in it. This reel can cast ultralight weightless rigged plastics with no difficulty, and casting any lure with significant weight is thrill. The same freespool capabilities we first took notice of in our lab did indeed translate into brilliant casting distance. While expert casters will have no difficulty, less experienced baitcasters will definitely want to step up the cast control setting to avoid time consuming backlashes. The President makes use of a six pin centrifugal braking system that is very similar to the VBS system employed by Shimano. During casts the spool forces all engaged weights forward, gently slowing the forward motion of the spool.

here's a link to the entire review.

Hey Dodge-come on down-no closed season and no hard water. No need to wait until the season opens.

Congrats, Dodge! I know that must be a great reel. I have his little brother, the Trion, and it handled a big chum salmon as if it were a chump.

With this mild beginning to winter I only had to go as far South as Kentucky for awesome black bassin'. I caught my first spotted bass on Christmas day. I got to teach my dad how to fish, he had bad experiences as a kid with his father, getting mad at him for catching a bowfin and reeling his line in too often.

Back to the subject though, I have a Pflueger Criterion that's worth ten times what I paid for it. The next reel I purchase will definately be a Pflueger.

that's a no brainer.get the president or the trion round if you like round reels.i have both and they are great.the president will cast weightless plastics with ease.

the abu cast weightless plastic pretty good as well i have never seen the pflueger round reels i guess they are not as popular in canada as in the states

but in canada every serious angler owns an abu C3 the are great pike and musky reels and if they will land a 20 lb pike or 50 lb musky they will have no problems reelin in a bass

If you like the President, try the new Supreme just released for 2006. Has a magnetic spool brake, should make casting the lighter baits a little easier. I like the Presidents but had been hoping for the addition of the spool brake, it has happened with the Supreme.

I bought one of the echelon's a few weeks ago with some extra Cabelas points I had accumulated. It's a nice reel, casts really smooth, fits my hand perfectly, and seems to be well made. The only problem I've had with it is when the drag is tightened all the way it seems to be a little more difficult to reel in. I'm not sure if it's just the one I got because I had to buy the display model (it was the only one left) or if it's a problem with all of them. I've been trying to find a review on it, but so far no one has, or probably will since it's a low end reel.

I got a BPS pflueger pro series 10 BB and it is sweet. I may never go with another brand (at least until I try the next). Great value for the $$
