Mann's 30+ is about the only one I can think of unless you want to use a sinking lipless crankbait like a Rat-L-Trap.

O.K. let you in on a secret. Got the new Cabela's tackle blowout magazine today. Poe's brand crankbaits have a 7/8 oz model that dives 17 - 20 ft. on 10 lb line. Kicker is they're priced at $2.49!! I'm a DT man myself but can't pass that deal up and the depth to boot. Better hurry colors are going fast. Shad color with pink belly is already gone as well as bluegill pattern.

another Idea

you could C-rig your favorate crank.. to get to the depth you want to get down to!!

this way you could save a buck and some room in the boat for other tackle

You could C-rig your favorite crankbait, but what gets stuck on the bottom at 30 feet, usually stays on the bottom. And Reb I know you use the plug knockers but I doubt it would work trying to work around a C-rig sinker.

Yeah, I think you would be out of luck with the plug knocker on a crank bait that is on a C-rig.

That's why I wouldn't use my most favorite crankbait. Although the thought had crossed my mind about the
C-rig and crankbait. I've dragged a wacky rigged worm around and it worked.

I think a crankbait like a bomber or a strike king would be a problem, but I've heard of using something like a floating rapala on one. Never tried it, but it seems workable.

I use 40# PowerPro and C-rig my shallow runners. I put my baits that dive to 3 feet on a two foot leader, again, 40# PP. I only lost one lure due to the sinker wedging in rocks. When the bait hangs, the PP is strong enough to bend out the hook. Cheaper to replace a hook than one of Chip's baits. OUCH. That would get expensive.

well let me refraise this a bit Â*:

I would'nt put my favorate $10-$15 crank on a c-rig but diffenatly something wood or something that floats.... rapala floating cranks is the only thing I have ever used in this scenario.. when I do try this I keep the speed and pole tip up a bit to keep the weight off the botttom as much as i can. Â*if I need to Â*suspend a deep crank I would probably jig a lipless crank..and this is after I have exhausted my all my rubber C-rig capabilities... Â*

in the lakes I fish; trees and stumps are only to dream about! only rocks to deal with Â*

Thats not to say I have not caught fish dead sticking a C-rig floating crank before.

think about it 30-50 foot down and you want to suspend something a couple of feet of the bottom.. and dead stick it a bit. Â*just remeber to make sure your wieght is heavier than your bouyancy.. use a real weight equal to or >3/4oz... get-er down there if your gonna dead stick it..

when I was a kid I woulld do this and go back a couple of min later after a Snag, and "sometimes" the crank would be floating but that was rare.. know Its not even Â*worth worrying about. Â*just pick some more up in bass pro or cabellas..........

just something Diff to try.. Â*:

i use 8 pound ande i can put a poes 400 on bottom in 35 feet of water the trick is to modify the bait.manns 30+ is pretty good but remember visabilty is near zero at that depth.

Zoom W.E.C. makes a bait called a Z4. It looks very similar to a poes 400.
Dives to 20' on the correct line.
Most of the bass that I catch are no more that 15' deep.
But once in a while you need to go slightly deeper.
20' is deep enough for me, and thats only in certain rare times of the year.

Phooey. Â*If they're deeper than 10 feet, they can stay there.

You fellows are talking about real work.

Yeah, but no more often than they see a crank, get one in front of em and see what happens. But you are right, Nothing..And i mean NOTHING wears you out anymore, and is any more physically demanding than deep cranking all day.
