Default Black Widow Spiders/Pest Control (a dumb question)

This question might be bordering on being stupid, but my backyard where I keep my boat is just one of those yards that for whatever reason has a problem with black widows showing up everywhere. I think its the neighbor's old rundown garage (sort of like the wine cellar in arachnophobia), but that is out of my control.

Anyways, I just added a casting platform to the front of the boat, and besides being a great addition to the boat in terms of fishability, it also might be prime habitat for black widows. Many of us keep our boats outside, I was wondering if there is anything I can do to ward off especially spiders, but I guess I would rather not have ants or roaches in the boat as well. Should I just spray raid under the deck before every outing or what?

Get some Hedge Apples and put in and around your boat, spiders don't like them at all.

http://www.bugsaway.com/

I have used the products from Bugs Away a few times and find them to be very effective. They have a spider control kit that might help you control and monitor the spiders. The website is pretty good and if you have questions, you can call them and they will help you out.

Thanks for the replies everone. I think I will try the hedge apples and mothballs first, and if that doesn't work I will go to some poisons like Nitro suggested. I might end up having the buy the poison anyway, I'm tired of every rock I pick up having a a nasty little spider with a red mark under it.
