Re: Crankbaits?
Welcome to the forum!
That covers a lot of ground-could you give us some specifics? Depth, water clarity, cover, etc. That way we can give some color and type of crankbait suggestions. |

Re: Crankbaits?
There is an answer actually, given the fact that somebody asked "what the best ____ was"... obviously we arent talking about someone with a great amount of skill or experiance, so they should just go ahead and buy some rat-l-traps and crank the hell out of them.

Re: Crankbaits?
Thanks rebbasser!
Well there's two different ponds that i mainly fish in, one in most areas is about 8-10 foot deep, the other is anywhere from 10-20 foot deep. They both are pretty clear. Thanks for your help....(also, i can' t seem to catch anything big...most are under 1lb. the biggest i've caught was a little over 2 pounds) |

Re: Crankbaits?
Well then get to tossing it. You wont find a better answer on here, there is no secret crankbait that folks in the know throw. Fishing with cranks is very nuanced and you need to learn it by experiance. So in the meantime just chuck that sucker as much as you can in the pond.

Re: Crankbaits?
Get the bomber crawdad brown crankbait in the smaller sizes, only a 2-3 dollar bait but a proven winner,, its secret? it backs up and wobbles real nice

Re: Crankbaits?
Park, try the Bomber model A. They are on sale at BPS for$1.99. Also I have had good luck on Storm wiggle warts. These are shallow runners. Good lures at good prices IMO.

Re: Crankbaits?
Welcome to the Forum Park!!!!! Now i don't know what is the BEST crankbait for your ponds but what i do is i try about everything in my tackle box and see what works. A good day to do that is a day that you have about 3 or 4 hours to spend at the pond. When i find the right bait, then that is what you should use for the duration of your fishing day. I usually fish spoons first, then crankbaits, then plastic worms, then weedless baits. I usually catch abot 3-4 bass when i do that. The pond only get 4-5 feet deep. and about a less then a half acre.

Re: Crankbaits?
I think these guys pretty much covered it. Â*A trap is a great lure-chrome/blue back is probably the most popular color. Â*They sink, so you can cover all depths. Â*With lipped crankbaits the longer the lip the deeper they go.
