Default Weekly Lake fork Fishing Report Fro Guide Jim Rean

Well, the weather is still giving us trouble as the weekend is to bring cool temps back into the forecast. The fishing has been good but one day and off the next. There are plenty of fish on the beds abut are not locked in all areas. Keep moving till you find a cove that has fish locked as there are plenty there. Weightless Wave tiki sticks and Crawdudes, flukes, Lake Fork Tackle Ring fries and twitch works, and Texas and Carolina rigged lizards in 5 to 8 foot of water have been very effective on the fish. Pop’R type baits have been good top water along buzz baits. Work windy banks with these baits. The water temp in most areas is 70 degrees. The green slime is everywhere. This is not bad as many fish are just over it and will hit the above mention baits almost all day. I had a 20 fish day this week with 12 over 5 pounds and should have had one ten but just was not in the cards.
The backs of the creeks and main lake points are the key spots to look. There are plenty of fish still to spawn and with the full moon this weekend there will be plenty to come up. The Night fishing has been good. Big spinner baits in black and buzz baits are good night choices. Remember to keep your lights on if you don’t want to get a ticket. Bug spray is a must as the bugs are plentiful this year.
The crappie are out in 19 foot of water but I still feel there are plenty of fish in the shallow water. Minnows fished on slip corks around stumps should get you a limit. I am working in the 3 to 5 feet of water fishing the minnows about 1&½ feet below the cork.
I still have some days in May and May is top water and deep Carolina rigs. Give me a call is you want to book a trip.
