Default Spinnerbaits in clear water?

I read a reply to someelse's topic. JB said fish won't hit a spinnerbait in clear water. Is this True? I fish alot in Nothern Michigan in a clear lake and i was up there for Memorial weekend and i got a nice 13 incher on a chartuese Spinnerbait in the late afternoon. That was the only one i got besides when i went night fishin. Anybody got advice for fish a clear lake, what colors or lures or worms? Also i when i was fishing i noticed the bass where in shallow and wouldn't mess with my spinner what would you guys have done.

Fish will hit a spinnerbait in clear water it just loses some of its effectiveness if the water is really clear. The clearer the water the easier it is for fish to detect its artificial. Another important thing is silver double willowleaf blades. Willowleaf blades don't put off as much vibrations as Colorado blades. You don't want a lot of vibration in clear water. I also downsize blades when fishing clear water. Hope this helps.

If they're feeding on shad definately white. If they're feeding on bream throw something with some chartreuse or orange. When fishing clear water it's important to match the hatch.

I agree with lockjaw. Â*You may want to try a single willowleaf blade spinnerbait, or a bluegill color(lots of colors).

I'm with JB on this one-in gin clear water-the kind you can see a dime on the bottom at 20 ft-I have not caught a fish on a spinnerbait. Â*Add a little stain, though and a spinnerbait becomes a killer bait. Â*The clearer the water the more natural colors you want-I've had the best luck with a glimmer blue color. Â*

In clear water I like a double willow setup. Â*In stained I like a tandem setup-a willow blade behind a smaller Colorado blade and for muddy water I like a big, single Colorado blade.

Blade colors-I follow the old adage "silver in the sun, copper in the clouds". Â*Partly cloudy days I like gold blades. Â*If it is cloudy give me a copper blade every time.

I've caught alot of fish in clear water on spinnerbaits, I use natural colors not chartreuse. I fish one real fast in clear water, burn it.
