Re: *BEWARE*
Do you know what kind of snakes they were? My friend and I went snake hunting(not literally) today. We were trying to catch pygmy rattlesnakes hanging out in the palm trees. No, we don't harm the snakes or anything, its just that he is really into herpatology (study of reptiles). Anyways we did catch several ribbon snakes, a hug mud siren, and a rough green snake.

Re: *BEWARE*
i wasnt sure. there are only 3 snakes i can reconize easily(but not always, sometimes i get them confused.), a rattlesnake, a water moccasin, and a black racer. i can also identify Â*a garden or grass snake. the snakes i saw today werent long, foot maybe and really thin. it was brown and had 3 horizontal lines on it, 1 on top, 1 on each side. i didnt get a good look at the bottoms tho. BTW, where do you go so you can see pictures of all the snakes?

Re: *BEWARE*
I used to kill them. Now I figure they're just being a snake. It's their job. They don't hurt much of nothing, and it's fun to watch them.
It's good to see you again RT. Welcome back. |

The way I look at it there is only two types of snakes:
Dead ones and the ones that I haven't seen to kill yet. |

Re: *BEWARE*
bf,
There are very few venomous snakes in fl, relative to the number of non-venomous ones. Â*Just beware of cootonmouths, they live in places that we love to fish and they are extremely aggressive. heres a site: http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/natsci/herp...e/venomsnk.htm |

Re: *BEWARE*
Describe very few. Last I checked we have 4-5 venomous snakes in Fl alone. Now compared to Australia or the Amazon thats not a lot. But in my book thats 4-5 to many. 8)

fl,
happy now? Â* IMO, fire ants and big gators are things to be much more afraid of than venomous snakes. |

Re: *BEWARE*
aww lizards should come down east with me in the canels/rivers of eastern nc i have seen cotten mouths the size of my arm around and 8 feet long hanging from tree limbs as you go under them in a jon boat.i have had a couple fall into the boat afore. i aint a fraid of them. although i did reach in to a hen nest in my pops hen house and grab a very big rattle snake by the head-albino timber rattler -he now graces my living room wall with his being.-i did not know he was in there. but at least he keeps my lil sister out of my house ;D.

Re: *BEWARE*
down here all snakes are protected...
also most bites/fatalities are to people who are trying to kill the snake. walk heavily they hear the vibrations & will take off pretty quickly before you even get near them. the only real time to worry is in nesting season, we have some down here that will chase you & they can move pretty fast. i imagine it would be the same for your fellas. i suppose it's like the Funnel Web Spider we have them in certain parts of the bush as well, they say it will only attack if it is annoyed. i always found that amusing. used to imagine someone sitting around one sunday saying ' sh8t i'm bored, i know, lets go & annoy a Funnel Web Spider' :P |

now you have thinking of all these hairy big spiders wearing guns & riding centepides looking for' them thar varmints what done annoyed us' usually these guys just crawl into your sleeping bag or a lot get bitten because they get into the clean washing on the line & end up in your clean sheets on the bed or a fresh shirt, they are sneaky. 8) |
