new pole and reel time

im looking into getting a new pole and reel and tossing out the old. i was wondering if u guys would all give me a preference on a reel and a pole. I was looking to spend about 50-100 dollars on the reel and 50-100 dollars on the pole give or take what it takes to have what is reliable. If everyone could post their recommendations on a reel and a pole that'd be great. I am looking for a medium heavy weight pole with a reel for lake freshwater fishing. EVERYONE POST AND LETS COMPARE PREFERENCES!

I would get a Pro Qualifier Baitcast reel from Bass Pro which is about 79 dollars and it is a very good reel. Then I would get yourself a Bass Pro Extreme Rod. they are pretty decent rods. If you can afford it you should get a pro qualifier rod also. I have owned the Pro Qualifier reels and they are durable and are smooth. I have also owned the extreme reels and they are all right but not as durable or great as the Pro Qualifiers. You might be able to get either one as a combo for 120 to a 100 bucks. Now say you like Shimano. I would get yourself a Curado and extreme rod combo from BPS. Thats a good bang for the buck. I just prefer BPS because of the warranties and how you can trade in reels or rods if something happens to them.

baitcaster-quatum accurist for $85 and then a st. croix premier 7' MH/fast for $90. it is a great setup for a 1 rod man,

spinning-quatum energy and a st. croix 6'6'' becuase if i only could have 1 rod/reel i would want a open face reel because you can throw anything on it and into the worst of winds

i would say to try and find a really nice used setup thats how i started and it never dissappointed me. just keep your ears open and ask around. possibly ebay.

Rod, rod, rod. Not pole. A great all around combo sold for $98.97 is an Ambassadeur C3 4600 on a Bass Pro Shops Bionic Blade rod.

I would have to second fishie's recommendation on the BPS pro Qualifier rod/reel combo. I have one that I love. BPS also has a Shimano Curado Combo that is pretty nice. If you go with one of the BPS rods, I highly suggest that you get the balance kit appropriate for the rod you choose. You can adjust the balance of the rod so that the reel is the balance point. It saves some wear and tear on the arm over the course of a long day of fishing.

A fenwick will be a steer in the right direction, if your goin spinning, get a mitchell 300x or 308x(the gold ones). For baitcasting, get a fenwick and a Rhino RBC300 baitcaster reel from wal~mart, very dependable
