Re: pearcy priest lake(nashville,tenn.)
Hi. Boy have i fished this lake.
I grew up in Nashville, and fished it most of my life. This time of year, the fish are beginning thier fall pattern. They will begin to concentrate on the many points that drop off itno or near the channel. The ones that drop suddenly to the Channel are best. These are more frequently found on the upper end, from the Hobson Pike bridge to the West Fork of the Stones River. Slowrolled spinnerbaits, and C-Rigged craws work fairly well this time of year. The lake has both gizzard and threadfin shad, as well as a large crayfish population. It is a deep, stained water lake with a Nice Smallmouth population. It has produced some BIG bass. My personal best came from there. 9 3\4#. Chrome and Blue Rat-l-traps are extremely effective on Priest. Swimbaits worked along the bluffs around Bryants Cove are also effective. It is a lake without much current, and no standing timber. There are numerous roadbeds, however. There is no place particularly good for bank fishing,(though you can catch fish from them) but there are several guides in the area, if you ain't taking a boat. It can be a tough lake, being in the heart of Music City, but you can catch some nice fish. Good luck, Charles |
