Pflueger trions
I have aquired a Trion reel and when you tightened the spool adjustment knob down to throw a 1/8 oz. weight , I noticed that it cranked a little tighter then when it wasn't adjusted for the lighter weight. The noticable difference when adjusting the spool tension knob bothered me so I tore the reel down and upon inspection, there was a plastic bushing under the spool tension knob that could be replaced by a bearing. I put in a spare( Daiwa reel)bearing that was the dimension of the bushing and what a difference it makes in cranking smoothness. Its like night and day comparing the difference the bearing made.P N J

Re: Pflueger trions
PNJ,
Correct me if I'm wrong but don't most of the better reels come with ABEC 5 bearings? If so have you ever upgraded any of your reels to ABEC 7 bearings? If so was it worth it or was it overkill? Just something I've been thinking about experimenting with and thought you might have tried it already. |

Re: Pflueger trions
Strap, In my opinion , it is not worth it to upgrade the bearings, however alot of people do think it is worth the extra cost of the bearings.I think Quantum hot sauce bonds and to the metal surfaces and improves the casting ability without spending alot money to help improve the reel.I am not always correct though . Re: Pflueger trions
I could cast it as far as I need to, probably was about 40 feet to reach the other side. there was 10-15 mph wind so that would have been a treat for your vocabulary.I caught some decent fish with it tighted down , but I can't get the damned pictures int a photo place to post the, Why don't you buy the damned reel from me, so you can thumb it all you want ? I decided its too wide for my liking. P N J
