turnovers
A cold front just moved through afew days ago and cooled the water temp. on the lakes drastically. When the sun heated up the mud on the bottom of the lake, but not the clearer lake water, a turnover. The muddy warm water rose, combatting with the cool clearer water. I didn't catch a fish today cause they were not biting at all during these conditions. Only a few people caught any fish at the tournament, most was two. Has anybody here combatted these conitions and come out successful, and how so?

Re: turnovers
You sure it was a turnover, or did you get a lot of rain that muddied up the water? If it was a turnover, the fish will be scattered-no set rhyme or reason as to where they will be. If just muddy, go tight to cover-they will position near an object they can relate to.

Re: turnovers
My experience when the fish are tight lipped period, which we all know happens. If I can't find and catch anything in deeper water, I will just keep fishing flats, looking for the fish who are wanting to eat(theres always a couple who are eating at any given time IMO). They will be few and far between, but it's better than going home

That was the problem. The turnover was caused by a bg cold front, so search baits wouldn't work. The only way to catch fish was to fish slow because of the cold front, but the fish were scattered so it would take forever to find any. |
