Default Which motors are better on gas

I am looking to up grade my merc 2 stroke to a 200 or 225hp 2 stroke. I am wondering which motor brand gets the best fuel economy. ie merc evenrude yamaha ect.

You could also ask what's better 4 stroke or 2 stroke. And if you care about it whats better for the environment. I think 4 stroke is better on fumes, I got a honda 50 but upgrading after Zook laughed about my 50 on the back of my bass boat

" but Zook I'm not buying a Yammy" cause you have one! lol

FOur strokes are probably the best for fuel and the environment. If you've got enough money to throw around , might as well buy a merc verado, or a yamaha vmax.

Ripper I got one buddy with a 200 optimax on a Ranger and another with a HPDI Yammy on a Triton. Both are great motors. I think it would be hard for anyone to say that one is hands down better than the other.

i would go with the 200 2 stroke if you were trolling with the big moter i would say hands down 4 stroke by for bass fishing 2 stroke is the way to go.

zilla that was cause you have a 50 horse moter on a friggin 20 foot boat-ranger-

hose holder
i would not have a honda moter if you gave it to me miserable things to work on the #1 problem with honda moter's is the starter. now that anit to hard to get to on almost any moter but honda's it requires the complete removal of the power head just to get to the starter. i can tell you this at 70 bucks per hour it takes 6 hours to get the starter off.

imo the moter manafactures for all out boards are making it nearly impossible to work on and out board while it is sitting in the water. on my yammaha the oil tank covers the fuel filterto get to the filter you have to remove the oil tank. the hell do these over paid outboard moter manafactures think we the guys that use these moters are going to do. when your moter goes to **** way the hell out in the middle of nowhere.

oh ****t my soap box busted!!!

Well they probably figure we will all run out and buy another one of their engines as a kicker motor in case we have any problems. This way they can do repair work on 2 motors. 8)

lizard there is a guy round here that has 2-yes 2 -225 mariner moters on the back of a 20 foot champion bass rig. no one can touch him coming out of the hole but in a long haul there is a couple of allison 's that will catch him and pass him.
