It all depends on the type of lines you use. cause some braided lines have a coating on them and some mono line have different textures to them. I know I use ceramic guides in my rod, they take the friction well and I really don't notice too much wear on them. I use power pro on my rod's and not much other lines. but power pro has a waxy substance put into the line after a while it wears off but I wouldn't trade this line for any thing, but I think the wax is for the guides or water protection.

I wouldn't worry to much about eye wear too much, but go with the braided OR what ever your comfortable with.

Cheap eyes, maybe. Quality eyes like Fuji, nope. At least that has been my experience.

I havent had any problems, and all I use is PowerPro. My rods all have Fuji guides though. But a rod with good guides and you wont have to worry about it.

EXACTLY! The reason your guides may get messed up, is because you are yanking it all over the place trying to get your line free from a hookup. I know I have experienced this :-[ The rod guide will get bent or broken before they will wear out.
